Human review

AI output review checklist

A practical checklist for reviewing AI output before you trust it, share it, or use it to support a decision.

Check the facts

Verify names, dates, numbers, claims, links, citations, calculations, and anything that would be embarrassing or harmful if wrong.

Look for invented details, missing context, and confident statements without support.

Use original sources where possible instead of asking AI to confirm itself.

Check the fit

Ask whether the answer fits the real audience, situation, tone, policy, and level of detail.

Remove generic language, overpromising, unsupported certainty, and anything that does not sound like you or your organization.

Make sure the output answers the actual question, not just a nearby question.

Check the risk

Decide whether a person with authority needs to approve the output before it is used.

Escalate legal, medical, financial, safety, HR, customer-impacting, and policy-facing work.

Keep notes about what you checked when the output affects other people or business decisions.
